Who are these girls ?

The Big Ears Festival is an event unlike anything you’ve ever experienced.  It takes place March 26-28th in Knoxville, Tennessee and offers the chance to see some of today’s most exciting and innovative artists in some remarkable venues over the course of a single weekend.

The festival takes place throughout downtown Knoxville with performances in a variety of venues within easy walking distance of each other.

This year’s festival includes performances by: Vampire Weekend, the National, Joanna Newsom, the xx, Terry Riley Quartet, Clogs, the Dirty Projectors, Bang on A Can All-Stars, the Books, St. Vincent, My Brightest Diamond, 802 Tour, Sam Amidon, Nico Muhly, the Ex, Gang Gang Dance, Javelin, DJ/rupture, Nadia Sirota, Doveman, Andy Moor, the Calder Quartet, Iva Bittova, Gyan Riley, Tim Hecker, Ben Frost, Buke + Gass, as well as William Basinski, Konk Pack, Liturgy, Adrian Belew, and more…

A few of the unique performances for Big Ears 2010 include:
• Sufjan Stevens, along with members of The National and My Brightest Diamond, will join Clogs in their performance of the new song cycle, The Creatures in the Garden of Lady Walton.
• The National will debut new material from their forthcoming album
• Dutch punk anarchists, The Ex, will perform south of the Mason-Dixon Line for the first time in 11 years.
• Electronic ambient composer, Tim Hecker and composer/performer Ben Frost will collaborate for the first time
• Artist-in-residence, Terry Riley will perform his rarely heard recent work, Autodreamographical Tales and his celebrated work, In C, featuring Bang on a Can All-Stars and special guests from the festival.  In addition, he will perform the piece commissioned by the L.A. Philharmonic to christen the Disney Hall pipe organ in 2008, on the extraordinary new pipe organ at the University of Tennessee’s Cox Auditorium.

These are just a few of the rare performances that will take place.  Other collaborations are inevitable and surprises will abound.

Georgia State Representative David Casas will be a guest speaker at the seminar and will be available to answer questions regarding the tax credit law.  Representative Casas is the author of HB 1133 and can provide insight on the intent of the law and his plans for improving the law during this legislative session.  Representative Casas will be available after the seminar  to discuss questions and concerns regarding the Private School Tax Credit Program.  Additional information about State Representative Casas can be viewed at http://www.facebook.com/pages/State-Representative-David-Casas.

Ed Wheeler are working with their young patients and their parents this month to educate them on dental health.  Each February, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children’s Dental Health Month to raise awareness on the importance of oral health.  Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.  Dr. Hehir and Dr. Wheeler place a strong emphasis on family and want parents and children to follow these simple rules to maintain good dental health?

·         Brush at least twice a day to remove plaque, which can lead to cavities if not removed.

·         Floss daily to help remove food debris from in between the teeth that a toothbrush can’t reach.

·         Eat healthy and nutritious foods and limit the intake of sugary carbonated drinks.

·         Visit your dentist for regular check-ups and cleanings.

·         Fluoride treatments twice a year are very beneficial in preventing tooth decay.

·         Sealants can be applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth and premolars. Sealants help to prevent tooth decay.
